About Us

Chantry House is our specialist nursing care facility which specialise with mental health. Our team of friendly and productive staff care for the needs of all our residents, ranging from illnesses such as Alzheimer’s to behavioral challenges and mental health needs.

Chantry House employs its own fully-qualified nursing care team.
Registered general and mental health nurses work alongside specially trained care staff. They ensure continuity of care, 24 hours a day.Set in extensive private gardens with the family-style living accommodation spans three individually-themed units: Clover, Honeysuckle and Lavender.

Mostly at ground level, all units offer private bedrooms, each with its own en-suite toilet, walk-in shower, nurse call system and infra-red movement monitor. Residents with mobility challenges can transfer safely with ease thanks to ceiling hoists in all rooms and lounges.

Chantry House is our specialist nursing care facility located in Saxmundham. The home provides care and support to residents living with dementia, challenging behaviour and mental health needs. The staff provide a friendly and welcoming care service in a comfortable and safe living environment. Staff support all residents with their individual needs, helping them to remain independent, combining one-to-one support with regular activities and experiences.

At Chantry House, each resident can choose between three levels of historic suite; all offering generous living accommodation, quality furnishings, access for a private telephone line, digital TV, and access to all communal facilities. Importantly, each suite can be personalised to allow you to turn Chantry House into your home. In addition to premium nursing care and well-appointed suites, Chantry House provides a beautifully maintained garden and easy access to the numerous shops and cafes in Long Melford.

Chantry House fees include 24-hour premium nursing care, fine linens, In-house laundry, freshly prepared meals from our professional kitchen, and regular social functions.

We cater for all dietary requirements i.e. Coeliac, diabetic as well as other specialist diets such as pureed for those with Dysphagia. The Chef’s here at Chantry House are trained to follow IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative)

The International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is a global standard with terminology and definitions to describe texture modified foods and thickened fluids used for individuals with dysphagia of all ages, in all care settings, and for all cultures. The IDDSI framework consists of a continuum of 8 levels (0-7). Levels are identified by text labels, numbers, and colour codes to improve safety and identification. The standardised descriptors and testing methods will allow for consistent production and easy testing of thickened liquids and texture modified foods.

Daily life at Chantry House, is a mixture of enjoyable social events and peaceful relaxation. We are accredited with NAPA (National Activities provider Association) The uniqueness of every person and their right to a meaningful conversation every day. The right to person- centred meaningful engagement with choice and control over how they spend their time. Activity provision which is respectful, creative, innovative and fun supported by skilled staff.

 

 

We have the facilities to enable our residents to Skype or facetime their loved ones.

I always receive a welcome every time I visit my wife. This homely residence is where my wife has spent the last 13 months. It is reassuring for me to know she is well looked after. The manager and staff offer their full attention at all times.

A typical day when I visit – A welcome by one of the staff and I enquire about my wife and her whereabouts. She might be having her hair washed and blow dried or she may be joining in with an activity. Lunch is served around 12.30, after which there is a period of rest before further activities, and then the afternoon tea is served. I then say goodbye for now. God bless everyone.

My mother spent a brief, but much happier, time at here following an extremely unhappy 3 year period in her previous care home.

The staff were professional, kind and caring and I would recommend that people visit this home to see what it can offer.

My husband has been in Chantry House for 9 months and the care he receives is great. The carers are kind and gentle. He is treated with respect as am I. I feel part of his care and can visit whenever I like.

I am always kept up to date if there are any problems and if a doctor visits they advise me so I can be there if needed to be.
